Benton Elementary School…planting the seeds so
students may blossom wherever they put down roots.
Achieve, Discover, Listen, Create, Explore, Learn, Laugh
Welcome to Benton Elementary School! We are a single grade level attendance center serving our community’s first grade population. We set high expectations for the ones we serve, as well as ourselves and strive to provide children with a nurturing, safe, and supportive learning environment. Benton provides Special Education services, Title 1 programs, English as Second Language services, Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapies, and counseling assistance for those individuals needing extra support. We are committed to providing a personalized learning experience for every student.
Student achievement is used to drive our instruction. We implement several programs designed to support our reading, writing, and math curriculums. AIMSweb and Leveled Literacy Interventions are used to monitor students’ progression in reading, while Six Trait Writing adds an additional support level for writing. Saxon Math is our district math initiative that addresses fluency in computation and developing math strategies in grades K-8. It provides a repetitive and sequential component in its curriculum.
Our school discipline is based on the Ozanam B.I.S.T. model. When walking through our hallways you will observe:
Teachers and staff members smiling and talking one-on-one with students in a calm caring manner.
Class meetings where shared decision making takes place.
Students thinking and writing about their choices in a quiet area.
Teachers forming partnerships with parents.
Students with more confidence and increased self-esteem.
The success of our school community depends on the collaboration, commitment, and involvement of parents, students, teachers, and community members. We welcome your involvement as parents!! Please visit our Elementary Calendar on the building webpage to view all our scheduled building activities. We look forward to partnering with you.
